Requirements to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate
- Be at least 17 years old (16 years old to solo)
- Be able to read, speak, write, and converse fluently in English
- Obtain a FAA medical certificate (a routine exam performed by a
medical examiner authorized by the FAA, this will also serve as your
student pilot certificate)
- Pass a computer based Pilot knowledge exam
- A minimum of 40 hours of flight time, which includes:
- 20 hours of flight training from a CFI
- 10 hours of solo flight
- 5 hours of solo cross-country flight
- Pass a practical test with a designated examiner
